Meet our Founders

Welcome to True Life! Meet Revs. Drs. Harold and Kellie Hayes, they are college sweethearts, having met at a house party on the beautiful campus of their home-by-the-sea, Hampton Institute (now, Hampton University) in Hampton, Va. By God’s grace they have become partners in life, love and ministry for forty plus years. Together they have raised 3 adult children, Shante, Shannon (Ajani) and Joshua, and are lovingly known as Babu (Swahili for grandfather) and GiGi to Sally, Tehila, Daria and Ajani 2 who join them in this latest spiritual adventure.
You can find them spending time together with their family and friends laughing and joking over a good meal, watching a good movie, a live concert, broadway show or play. You can also find them taking walks and communing with God through nature and one another. However, together and individually, nothing is more important than their time in the presence of God. It is in this place where they receive direction, strength, power and peace. It is in this place where the vision for True Life Worship began!
After having served the African Methodist Episcopal church as ordained clergy for a combined 69 years, the Spirit of God has retired and repositioned them for another calling. To launch a fresh ministry work existing to create a space and place for everyone to walk in purpose through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit by receiving the truth of God’s word, responding with worship and allowing our lives to be a witness that the same God who freed, changed and empowered our lives can do the same for others! Their life calling is to know Jesus and to make Him known, all for the glory of God.
The Word……..“Jesus answered, “The Scriptures say: Bread alone will not satisfy, but true life is found in every word that constantly goes forth from God’s mouth.” Matthew 4:4 (TPT)
The Worship……."But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship God must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24 (NKJV)
The Witness……“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
